Our Mission.
We are a compassionate and dedicated church family, committed to sharing Christ’s love, building people through God’s word and serving the entire community.
NEW YEAR - SPRING
In January, we have prayer everyday of the month. The doors of the church are open to all who want to pray independently or receive prayer. February brings the celebration of Black History Month; everyone participates in celebrating contributions of African Americans to our society. Springtime is Easter time; it allows the entire community to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ with our Easter service and locally famous Easter egg hunt for children.SUMMER
Family & Friends Day
In July, we have the largest outreach of the year.
At Family and Friends Day, over 200 people are fed quality food, kids can play carnival games to win prizes, and there are jumpers for them to enjoy. Clothes, Bibles, and hygiene items are given to those who need them.
More importantly, we take this opportunity to minister and pray for those in need of Jesus.
THANKSGIVING
THANKSGIVING DINNER
No one should go hungry on Thanksgiving; we have a Pre-Thanksgiving dinner. It’s held the Saturday before Thanksgiving & open to all who want to have a home cooked meal. Adding to the joy of the day, a Deacon dresses up like a turkey and welcomes community citizens to the event. Food and service is provided by members of the Church and citizens of the community who know we do this every year and want to lend a hand.
CHRISTMAS
CHRISTMAS
Christmas is revered as one of the most sacred times of the year for Prayer and Praise Ministries. We sing carols, give socks, blankets, scarves, and gloves to the elderly in convalescent homes in Upland and Ontario; including a Community Christmas play that all could enjoy, and give toys to children. Most importantly, Prayer and Praise Ministries wants the community to know about the miracle of Jesus’ birth.
COMMUNITY
COMMUNITY
With the help of Christ, Prayer and Praise Ministries will continue to love, serve, and build the people of Ontario and the surrounding community.
28 years in the ministry is a long time, and we are deeply thankful to God, our church members, and church Friends and Family for all of their support.
Our Community.
LOVE People.
SERVE People.
BUILD People.
Love people. Serve people. Build people. Prayer and Praise operates by those values. In the past, the church, led by Pastor Dorothy Porter, would serve the homeless in De Anza Park every Thursday night, give out Krispy Kream Donuts on Sundays, and pick up families from all over Ontario in the church van. Since then, Prayer and Praise has evolved its outreach ministry in an effort to maximize quantity of people being served. Four to five times a year, Prayer and Praise Ministries gives away free clothes and shoes to the community for adults, adolescents, and children. Contributors come from the church and citizens in the Ontario neighborhood.
